vnstat2 not working, basically what happens is after installation, it starts monitoring for a bit and shows values but then in no time stops and values freeze, wont incrment and on reboot goes blank and wont start monitoring.

mayb some1 could give it some attention to make it work atleast on the nanobsd on alix

Any errors in the system log when any of this happens?

how do we get rid of vnstat2 completely and do a fresh install of it coz my install is corrupted and everytime i upgrade the pfsense, it re downlaods and installs on first boot but doesnt work so i go to packages and it shows installed over there and if i try clicking reinstall package or remove package then nothing happens except the stuff below which finishes in less than a second.

Loading package instructions...	Auxiliary files... done.
              	Deinstall commands...

on further research, the issue seems to be when syncing packages on reboot, after upgrade, in the console, it detects the package due to its entry being in the config file so starts downlaod of it and completes and as soon as u start the web gui, the wizard runs again, inspite of it being already run in console and finishes in a few seconds only and package appears to be installed but never works or has dependencies missing etc, so to do a fresh install i had to remove the package entry from the config and restore it and this time on boot, nor in console or web gui did it try to install it and after that i went to packages and clicked install and then it works so basically syncing packages has issue somewhere.

currently on the 25th may nanobsd snap and noticed the following, if the previous snap had vnstat2 installed and if u tried upgrading the snap, then when the new snap boots, in console, vnstat2 package downlaod starts and finishes and when u load web gui, the package wizard also starts again but just shows the below stuff and thats it and vnstat2 doesnt work, but suppose i remove the  package entry from the config and restore it and then manually add it then it downlaods and works also and when clicking the stats page, initially shows just a few values as the page seems to be cached in the browser so in firefox i need to pres  ctrl+shift+R to make it fetch the latest info so i guess caching also needs to be turned off on the vnstat2 page so everytime page is loaded, it gets fresh values.

Loading package instructions...	Auxiliary files... done.
                    	Deinstall commands...

after reboot, it just doesnt seem to start so i went to console and typed vnstat and this is what i got

                      [2.0-BETA2][root@firewall.pfsense]/root(5): vnstat
Error: Unable to open database directory "/var/db/vnstat".

currently im on the 8th june nanobsd and after upgrade and reboot, the package is synced again in console and when i go to the web gui, shows deinstall command but isnt removed properly, the only improvement i saw was, after all the above, u can now go to package manager and click reinstall for vnstat and this time it actually does reinstall but doesnt work yet, screenshot below

I fixed some package uninstall/reinstall issues last night so you might want to upgrade to the snapshot from June 9th and try again.

on the 8th jun snap atleast it did a proper package reinstall after upgrade and reboot and now its back to original, after upgrade and reboot, the console shows reinstall and when u start the web gui, shows deinstall and doesnt attemp a reinstall again and package doesnt work at all like before.

Correct something has changed in the base system so the install fails, though it's unrelated to your alix problem. http://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/641

They did before the 9th, but I don't have any problem with reinstalls on the 10th or later snaps. I haven't tried nanobsd yet though.

Unless it's something specific to this one package. Are you having problems reinstalling any other package?
