PFsense 2.0-beta1: 3G modem failed to connect
-
Hi,
After the recommondations by my first post (http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,24560.0.html) about this topic, I ugraded to PFsense 2.0-beta1 and gave it another try.
What I want is that pfsense secure internet provides in the field over a 3G modem from XS4ALL. Now I came a little bit further, but I still need help. When I look at a serial terminal, I see a lot of AT commands passing over the termial. But at the frontpage of my PFsense box there is a red cross by the status of the device. And I cannot connect over the (ppp) dongle to the internet. Here is the part of the system log about the dongle:

The kernel sees the dongle as following:
HUAWEI Technology HUAWEI Mobile, class 0/0, rev 2.00/0.00, addr 2> on uhub4"
Here are the AT commands displayed on the serial terminal:
+++AT ATZ AT AT AT ATZ AT
I will give more information if that is necessary for someone to help me.
Could someone help me?Kind regards,
Jozef00
edit: Some information added.

What is the device name assigned to this modem by pfSense?
-
Hi Eugene,
The device name is:```
cuau0And ifconfig says the following about the modem:
ppp1: flags=8890 <pointopoint,noarp,simplex,multicast>metric 0 mtu 1500</pointopoint,noarp,simplex,multicast>
Kind regards, Jozef00

Then why don't you put
set device /dev/cuau0
in your ppp.conf?
-
Hi Eugene,
I configured the dongle via the webinterface of PFsense 2.0. There I got all my information from. After your reply I looked in my ppp.conf and I saw there complete different information pertaining to the webinterface. So I don't know where PFsense listen to, the webinterface or my ppp.conf.
Kind regards,
Jozef00

I am not sure about 2.0. Have you tried this with 1.2.3?
In any case settings from your gui usually get to configuration files when you click apply/save. -
Hi Eugene,
Yes, I tried it with PFsense 1.2.3. But that doesn't work and when I posted a forum thread about it, I got the advice to try it with PFsense 2.0beta1. So I did that.
Kind reagards,
Jozef00
