Does squid caching all of type data in port 80
-
Hey guys.im here to.ask.about squid..
I have a game update patch..
I believe that game patch using port 80.. i've tried too sniffing that game patch..I've setup squid for my proxy server + lusca..
But it seems that squid doesn't caching that game patch..I dont hv any idea where did i go wrong.. but fyi all the video and web content are saved in my squid.. except the game patch part.. plz solve this thx

Perhaps the patch file was larger than your maximum object size?
-
I've put the object size arround 300mb and i believe the game patch are below 100mb.
Thx for your reply any idea?
-
I use pfsense-lusca to do caching for online game update files. Most games (update with port 80) work flawlessly. But other games that use FTP (21) to update have no luck.

Have you checked squid's access log to see what comes up when the patch is downloaded?
Once you figure out the URL, you can try to use something like this:
http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Squid_Package_Tuning#Caching_Windows_Updates

@ jimp can you tell me what's the meaning off this patern
refresh_pattern guru.avg.com/.*.(bin) 4320 100% 43200 reload-into-ims;
guru.avg.com means the website domain of the object that we want to cache
/.*.(bin) honestly i don't understand what is this but i know bin is the folder on linux
4320 100% 43200 what is this? i don't get it
reload-into-ims still don't have any idea
could you give me the example how do you patch your game.. because i'm using lusca also.. but still don't have any luck on caching that..
and what is the example gamepatch that can be cached on your squid..thx all
thx.. -
See here for the details on the numbers and percentage, reload-into-ims, etc: http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/refresh_pattern/
This: /.*.(bin) is a regular expression, it just means match anything under the root directory (/) with an extension of .bin.
