So using the tutorial I physdiskwrite the image to my 2GB extreme CF.

      At boot i see
      <snip>####################################################################PC Engines ALIX.3 v0.99
      640 KB Base Memory
      261120 KB Extended Memory

      01F0 Master 848A SanDisk SDCFX3-2048
      Phys C/H/S 3970/16/63 Log C/H/S 992/64/63

      1  FreeBSD
      2  FreeBSD

      Boot:  1</snip>

But then it just starts dumping # characters our indefinitely. It takes no keyboard input and just stays here. I can't find this on the forums in google. Install is pretty straight forward so I'm sort of at a loss here. I tried m0n0wall and was able to get it to boot using all the same hardware but I really want pfSense.  Any insight?

      TIA
      –chris

        From this page http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/NanoBSD_on_WRAP

The line "If you try to boot pfSense 1.2.3 on a WRAP without modifying the image or the CF, you will likely be greeted by a long string of ######## after the boot menu. "

Looks like i need to modify my image.

This is in the docs but somewhat hard to find.  I read the docs the previous few days with regards to embedded installs and never found this wrap/alix specific stuff.

          This is WRAP specific.
          NOT ALIX specific.

I've seen this on an alix however if the board still had an old version. (anything besides 0.99h)

We do what we must, because we can.

Yeah that page is WRAP-specific, not applicable to the ALIX at all. If you're seeing that, you have an outdated BIOS on the ALIX that has a bug that prevents it from functioning. Upgrade the BIOS and you'll be set.
