    Hello,

I have Pfsense 1.0 release on a PC

    -Celeron 400 Mhz
    -Realtek NIC 8139 for WAN
    -ADMtek AN985 for LAN
    -256 Mo Sdram

Some errors come randomly  when I see system logs:

kernel: rl0: discard oversize frame (ether type 2c5e flags 3 len 41959 > max 1514)
kernel: rl0: discard oversize frame (ether type c8b8 flags 3 len 4115 > max 1514)
kernel: rl0: discard oversize frame (ether type ca08 flags 3 len 28737 > max 1514)
kernel: rl0: discard oversize frame (ether type e32e flags 3 len 31861 > max 1514)
kernel: rl0: discard oversize frame (ether type 6032 flags 3 len 59144 > max 1514)
kernel: dc0: TX underrun – increasing TX threshold

    Is it normal ?

Can I fix these error messages ?

    thanks

And people wonder why I tell them to ditch their Realtek nics.

I read the topic, I set the MTU WAN to 1500 but it doesn't solve my problem

after these message errors pfsense freezes, the keyboard freezes also, the only solution is to reset :(

          I don't understand

Go and buy some Intel NICs…

All your problems will be gone then...

The old realteks you can use as ice scrapers... thats what they are useful for  ;)

Sorry, but RTL-nics are really crap...

Ok but Intel Nics are very expensive  :-\

and realtek chipset is present on most of cheap card, it's difficult to buy a cheap NIC without Realtek inside

do you know a cheap NIC who doesn't have a realtek chipset ?

Well if you want to I have a couple of 3Com NICs left at home… how many do you need and where to ship to ?

That should be no problem to make things better for your pfSense  ;)

If you are interested, just PM me...
