9/11 NanoBSD LAN/WLAN bridged - WLAN only working when Mac turned on…
-
Hi there,
my WLAN and LAN interfaces are bridged together. My iMac is connected via LAN directly to my Alix pfSense Box. When I turn off my Mac and the link on LAN goes down, my WLAN dies with it and is not working anymore. If I turn on the Mac again, the WLAN starts working again.
Why is that? Known bug? With 1.2.3 this worked as expected, now not anymore…

Which interface do you have the IP address assigned to? If you have it assigned to LAN, it may be causing the behavior you are seeing. As far as I know, for best results you should have the IP on an interface that is always up, like the wireless AP or the bridge itself. If LAN was connected to a switch instead of direct connection to the computer, that would also work.

Sounds like it!
Ok, I'll try to put the IP on the bridge itself if that'll work. Hopefully I can still use the dhcp server and stuff there as well…
I'll check it out...

Okay. Now it works. WLAN and LAN do not have any ip addresses anymore, just the bridge itself…
Thanks for your help!
