Thanks for your big work…!!
when installing pfsense over windows 2008 r2 server as a virtual machine. pfsense cant detect the network cards.
so network card setting have to be changed to legacy network cards, which microsoft stats that it is slower.....
Microsoft released a driver for its network cards on this link

this include 5 drivers
the most 2 important is the network driers
and Timesync: The clock inside the virtual machine will remain synchronized with the clock on the host.
note: Timesync this is a big issue, i tried installing mikrotik as a VM on windows 2008 and the time on the vm is not sync with the server clock and this makes a big problem on radius server logs that results in repeating the login sessions ...
so merging this driver pack inside pfsense would be great...

I have read your link and found it content only Linux Driver?
pfSense is based on FreeBSD and it looks like that there is no FreeBSD driver for this NIC. So I think you'd better contact http://www.freebsd.org to find help :) -
The legacy network adapter is indeed slower, but you'll need to have a extremely fast internet connection to notice any difference. It is more than fast enough for standard use.
The timesync problem could be fixed by using setting up pfSense as a NTP Server and setup the host and other network computers to use pfSense for timesync. You can also tweak the update frequency that Windows use to sync time.

you can install virtualbox on you server,it`s free and you can use intel server net card (virtual card). :)
