Where can I setup DNS from my ISP? WAN interface only asks for Gateway/IP…
-
Hi Everyone,
I have a block of 7 usuable IP address. In a DD-WRT I currently have IP address, Gateway, DNS1, DNS2 setup and the router picks up the IP beautifully.
However, in WAN interface of pfSense there is no option for DNS. I have setup DNS in Genral Settings but I am not sure if it works. I can't browse Google.com. So, it's not working even though it shows that interface is up.
Please guide me where all should go.
P.S. there is also a check "Allow DNS server list to be overridden…..." which is unclear to me.
Thanks

Make sure that box is not checked. That allows pfsense to grab the dns details from the dynamically assigned address given to you by your isp.
Also, make sure you are forwarding DNS requests. Check the enable box under "services" > "dns forwarder"
** Wait! I just realized you WANT the dns from your isp, so the "allow dns server list to be overridden box" you DO want checked.
Sorry for the confusion. -
Thanks a lot. That helped.
