What version of pfSense are you using?

Are the PCs using DHCP to configure default gateway and DNS?

What is the default gateway on PCs?

Do you get different results on PCs if you specify ping target as hostname or IP address?

        Version 1.2.3
PC's are using DHCP to configure default gateway and DNS
Default gateway and DNS on PC's (from ipconfig) are both 192.168.1.1

All PC's have the same results

I re-installed with a fresh install last night and it worked fine, this morning I did a reboot (from the WEBGUI) and the problem has returned.

The firewall shows no activity in the LOG, but I can still ping any host you can think of from the WEBGUI

Pinging Hostname or IP from webgui gives the same results.

I also tried to ping IP and hostname from PC's and it just times out.

It's like no traffic is making from the LAN to the WAN on the router

Also, I checked the firewall log and it did not appear to be blocking any LAN traffic.

Could be a hardware problem.  For the re-install did you power cycle the pfSense box?  What if you power cycle it now, instead of just rebooting it?

If you had it switched off for some period of time during the re-install, switch it off for the same period of time without doing a re-install.

Sarcasm gets you nowhere - remember you're paying nothing for this.

Your WAN is behind a proxy or captive portal. It tried to download the bogon data but got an html page instead.

Fix your connectivity and it should work.

                          How do I test/fix this?

I have comcast and have cable modem plugged directly into the router.

                          Disable the Bogon firewal rule?

To avoid captive portal issue couldn't I use DNS servers 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 in stead of the ISP DNS?

I can't really say how to fix your ISP issue, it may be a DNS issue, use Google's DNS instead, 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4.

                            Disabling bogons may also help.
