      i am going to be installing pfsense as soon as my rig ships to me. my question to you is how stable is 2.0 and do you think it would be a good idea to use it or should i just use 1.2.3 and then upgrade to 2.0 later on.  al so im new to pfsense i have the book which will help me though it, i think the book is related to a 1.x.x but thats also something i dont know yet.

        Use the stable release unless there's something you must have in 2.0 and you're willing to risk problems.

          Agreed - being a relatively new user to pfsense (not networks) I highly recommend the 1.2.3 release. tried the 2.0 but it just is not ready yet.

            Make sure you report anything you run into on the 2.0 board, by and large everything is in good shape (though at times there are rough periods in snapshots as is the nature of development snapshots), especially the past 3 weeks or so.

              thanks everyone for the input i will go ahead with the 1.2.3 until I'm more familiar with pfsence.
