Will pfsense run on this system?

I'm new to linux and pfsense and never deal with this system before. I have a cisco 871 router. I will be moving to a new place in few months to where I can get verizon fiber optics. They have 35/35 for a business account which means I will have static IP as well.
Right now my 871 cpu peaks at 90% when running speedtest at 32/6 from cox cable. I got only one access list and no firewall in place, but with 10 NAT tables for port forwarding. I also have one Team Fortress 2 dedicated server with 24 players. Will the ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe support and run pfsense?
This will be install on a hard drive, but not sure which download is the right one the list. I also notice the extension of the file is gz, I though it will be an image file with img extenion so I can burn it with nero.

For the full (hard disk) install you want the LiveCD ISO images.
The kit should all work - you could always read the hardware lists to check ;) You may want more memory if you're planning on things like Squid or Snort.

If you don't need packages like Squid or Snort, you can also use the embedded NanoBSD versions which would suit the 8GB SSD quite well. You do look like you only need the pfsense box for basic NAT and firewall duties after all.
I hadn't realized they have SSDs in such small capacities. Time to get a review sample from them and crack it open then…On the hardware, you might want to get 1 more stick of ram for dual channel (it's cheap anyway). Oh and the PT dual port is available in open-box form for just $129 ($50 off the OEM) as well.

It's faster and also very energy efficient. Not to mention, the board comes with a mini-PCIe slot and a wifi adapter (take it out and use it elsewhere or sell it off) :D

Not sure I will need snort or squid but I will use what ever firewall and features. it comes with the original package first. Looks like pfsens uses more ram then the whole cisco IOS since it not CLI. Then I will get a single 2 GB stick of ram. My intel NIC in the wish list was on the hardware compatibility list as well.
Now once I download the package I can use winrar to peak in the content. I do now see the image that I can extract and burn it to a CD with nero.

Nah… It doesn't use more ram just because it's got a WebGUI. Mostly because of the differences between the platforms. SoC vs x86. You can actually make do with 1GB if you don't need the extra packages but no one complains about having more ram anyway. It's always nice to see dual channel in action too! :D

You need only set the interfaces and the LAN IP addresses. All other settings can be configured from the WebGUI after that.

But not sure Intel Atom cpus are supported by pfsense. I like it because it has built in dual Intel NIC card which is nice to have and will save me money then having to buy a pci express nic card with dual ports. But again not sure how well onboard NIC perform vs actual NIC card.http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=43098
As you can see the it is a dual core cpu at 1.66mhz but not sure how well they can handle firewall and other features I might be using at 35/35 mbps. I'm thinking 1.66mhz atom is about 800mhz regular desktop C2D. Anyone out here using this platform that can give some advice? -
That board will work fine. There are several users who've used the Supermicro.

I would look at the newer model X7SPE-HF-D525 with the Atom 1.8GHz processor and DDR3 memory support.
