      You have problem with blacklist - reload new or disable blacklist.

        Thanks for the reply but I don't follow you.

        1stly I updated the blacklist again and then after one hours logged in and ALL my packages were removed.

        Therefore I reinstalled the packages configured it and updated the list.

        Updated the list and now I get this

        The following input errors were detected:

        * (B1) BLACKLIST 'blk_BL_webradio' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/blk_BL_webradio' not found
            * (B1) BLACKLIST 'blk_BL_webtv' error: file '/var/db/squidGuard/blk_BL_webtv' not found

        and a syntax error across the top new scrolling error across the top.

        How can I uninstall squid and squid guard then remove ANY files remaining manually so when I do reinstall it it's a completely fresh start?

        also the services stop automatically again, and now I get an error on the "proxy server" area that scrolls across the top

        squid guard and squid seem to be very buggy in my years of using it,  I have never had it run well, don't know if it's a hardware issue or it's software but it does not seem stable

        Also if I disable blacklist what good is this to me, then I have no web blocking.

          Edit each ACL and store. Then APPLY config.

            right now i have no ACL's right now.

            I think best would be to uninstall Squid and Squid guard then manually remove any riles left over (not sure where these are located) then reinstall.

            Right now I know how to uninstall the packages but not manually remove the remnants,

              If you reinstall - you loose downloaded blacklist!
              After reinstallation need reconfigure/save ACL's and Default page. Then APPLY.

                I'm aware of losing the blacklist which is fine but no matter what I do even if I wait 2 hours the blacklist doesn't upload properly, therefore I want to uninstall the package and reinstall it, but i think files are being left behind I want it clean it up completely from scratch.

                Thanks

                  I now have this error scrolling across the top of my pfsense.  Not sure where I can access this log, sorry it's going fast so It's hard to jot down what the error is.

                  filter load:there were errors loading the riles /tmp/rules.debug:48 /tmp/rules.debug:57 /tmp/rules.debug:58

                  syntax error in config file pf rules not loaded

                  rdr on ptot tcp from any to port 80

                    Removed squid completely do to errors, each time I reboot eh box the box took about 10 min as it was trying to rebuild the database so I removed Squid and Squid guard now I am trying to reinstall it and I get…

                    Downloading package configuration file... done.
                    Saving updated package information... done.
                    Downloading squid and its dependencies... done.
                    Checking for successful package installation... failed!

                    Installation aborted.

                    How many people use squid and squid guard with a black list successfully?  I have never over 2 years had it tun stable I'm wondering if it's hardware or is it just buggy and a waste of time?  Should i be looking at other sources of web filtering? OpenDNS?

                      I'm having trouble getting Squid/Squidguard to work properly too. What are the alternatives for URL filtering? I'm in to anything free or low priced. openDNS is great but the free version won't allow you to control a single user - if you block something it's blocked for everyone.

                        Can you explain to me the issues you are having I want to compare them to what I am experiencing.

                        Thanks
