Making to work "Davicom DM9601 USB Ethernet driver"
-
Can some one please help me to make my Davicom DM9601 USB Ethernet to work, I found in this page http://cvs.pfsense.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb.cgi/tools/builder_scripts/conf/ there are some files related to this card, and need to know how to apply it to my box.
My PfSense version is 1.2.3

You may want to try pfSense 2.0 (Beta) to see if it's supported there.

I tried and it is not supported too.

I use a Davicom DM9601 USB NIC as the WAN interface on my pfSense box. It has the problem that on some reboots it doesn't seem to start up properly and so its not detected and pfSense goes into its assign interfaces dialogue. This prevents automatic restart after panics or power recovery. I wouldn't recommend them for production use, at least until you have done some work to determine they recover reliably after a system restart.

It is not straightforward (unless you already know your way around the FreeBSD kernel). I'm not prepared to put in the time I anticipate (or fear) it would require.
From my perspective, you would be better off getting yourself a supported NIC but if you insist on modifying the existing driver I suggest you put together a pfSense build environment, modify the udav driver source code to recognise the required USB device ids, rebuild the kernel and copy to your pfSense box. There is documentation online for creating the pfSense build environment.
