1.2.3 upgrade to 2.0 Now USB doesn't work

Hi All
I managed to install and configure pfSence 1.2.3 (i'm a newbie really) with dual wan fail over and load balance and I'm thoroughly impressed with the pfSense team creation. Realising the possibilities I upgraded to:
FreeBSD pfsense.local 8.1-RELEASE-p2 FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE-p2 #1: Tue Dec 7 05:16:35 EST 2010 sullrich@FreeBSD_8.0_pfSense_2.0-snaps.pfsense.org:/usr/obj.pfSense/usr/pfSensesrc/src/sys/pfSense_SMP.8 i386
as I wanted support for a huawei usb modem and also open-vm-tools. The upgrade went smooth. but now USB is not working, could anyone help with a solution? Would I be correct in saying the usb controller is being detected as manufacturer ATI when it is infact Intel?

I can't help with a solution but I can help with a diagnosis. The real problem is shown in the dmesg snippet:

The BIOS has apparently initialised all three USB controllers so that their device registers are at exactly the same memory address. This is a error.
As for the Intel/AMD thing: the pciconf output shows a number of PCI devices apparently claiming the chips were made by ATI and the subsystem was made by Intel. Though this is possible it seems to me to be rather unlikely. This is some kind of virtualised environment? I suggest a cold restart.

I have tried a cold boot with no change. I have confirmed the manufacturer is ATI for the chipset, Could the below thread be the same problem?

Either your BIOS is broken (it should allocate distinct memory address ranges to each PCI device) OR it is erroneously configured to boot a 'plug and play' operating system (doing its own PCI device resource allocation). pfSense (FreeBSD) assumes the BIOS will do the PCI resource allocation.
