Minor Visual WebUI Issue
-
That's odd:
Firefox 3.6.9, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - Lucid Lynx
-
i guess i should have mentioned i'm on Windows 7.
anyone else with this problem ?
-
Had this problem last week with a snapshot between Dec 6 - Dec 10 - not sure which one and it only appered one time for me. For me it was not the "help" button but the "Diagnostics" button.
I was on Windows XP SP3 with firefox 3.6.12.

Tried clearing your cache completely and refreshing?
I have no problem with Firefox on Windows 7.
-
hi jimp;
ive just cleaned my cache, and cookies (in firefox) , and it still displays this way.i also just installed the new Opera 11.0 beta, and it displays properly. :-\
-
What Firefox extensions do you have installed?
Have you tried running Firefox with addons disabled? -
jimp;
good idea; once you said that, i realized maybe stylish was the problem, so i ran firefox with the -safe-mode option, disabled all addons and cleared the cache again.
restarted, firefox and ….. it still displays incorrectly. -
Safari on Mac shows wrong too. With "command" - "+" it shows correct.
With firefox its even worse. Here the help-, Diagnostics- and Status-Menus are laying over the System-menu and drive it unuseable. Even changing the size doesn't help.
With Opera its all ok. -

hereby the pics. What i see, with the new firefox the bug is a bit "better" than before…
All screens shot on mac 10.5.8 intel.

Those fonts look like the browser is 'zoomed in' are you sure you don't have any custom font settings or browser zooming going on? Doesn't look like it should on a stock browser at default prefs.
-
Opera and firefox are my little "pron-browsers" for guests. No settings are made except deleting of cache and cookies. So no font-changes are made ever here. I never use this browsers too.
firefox is set to times 16pt, opera 100%, Times and monaco 9pt. I don't know the original settings, but have tested on firefox several things with no effect. But 16pt seems to be a bit big to be standard.edit:
deleted the whole settings from firefox and then still it was bad. But at the font-settings when i set minimal font-size to 9pt then its looking right, but nearly unreadable. Extremely small and smoothing is a crap. That in fact is not pfsense-job. thats a bad setting from firefox itself, because 24" seems too small for this browser. (I know why i hate that piece of soft… ;-) So default prefs are not the right thing, it has to be changed to be smaller! -
I just installed Chrome, Opera, and Firefox in my OSX VM. Opened up a browser to a pfSense 2.0 VM from today in Safari, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox, and every menu bar rendered perfectly, and practically identical.
I also do not see the misplaced Login button on Firefox. It is placed as expected and the box stretches out way underneath it.
Wherever this is coming from must be a preference of some sort in the browser, because a stock browser with a stock pfSense box renders great.
-
Look at the font sizes, almost seems that might be causing it?
-
with igor's settings yes, it does look like a font size issue;
in my case though, there are absolutely no changes to the settings for font, font type, size, etc…
for me the misplacement only occurs in firefox
not opera, or chrome.
(@igor, lol at "pron browser")

there are 200+ thread views on this topic; if others are also having this issue now is the time to chime in.
-
The main browser I use is Firefox, and no matter what platform: Windows 7, XP, FreeBSD, even with FF 4.x betas it displays OK for me on every machine I try.
I don't doubt that it's displaying weird for you, but it would be wiser to focus your attention on what is different about the preferences on that computer that might be causing or contributing to the issue.

jimp;
ok, ill dig deeper over the next few days and try to figure this out.
-
today ive just noticed on the firmware update page, the drop down menus are borked also.
edit*
in firefox 4.0 beta 8, all is well.
