        Hi,

        just a shot question:

I applied this patch on Dec 14 snapshot:
        i386 - http://pingle.org/files/pfSense-Full-Update-2.0-BETA4-20101214-1319.tgz

an squid2 works now on my machine.

Today I updated to 2.0-BETA4 (i386) built on Wed Dec 15 20:50:23 EST 2010 and squid2 still works.
Is this because of the patch I applied yesterday or is this patch included in the new snapshot or is this patch "universal" to alle new snapshots ?

        thx.

The firmware files that I built had a patch removed, and now that same patch is removed from the "real" snapshot firmware files.

People who upgrade to a current snapshot (even those who never touched the firmware files I posted) should all be working now.

I can confirm that the "real" snapshot pfSense-Full-Update-2.0-BETA4-20101216-0237.tgz dated 16-Dec-2010 05:02 76M has now been fixed to address the broken Squid  :)

The annoying "beep" when logging on via the Web GUI is still there.

May just unplug the speaker if this stays on as a "Feature"  :P

I am getting to like Pfsense - any idea when the 2.0 version of the book will be out?

The 2.0 book won't be out for a while yet, we haven't really even started on it. It's very hard to document a moving target so we can't do any real serious work until it's released or much later in the RC phase.

Thanks for your feedback, jimp and mromero

Even thanks for participate on writing this book for version 1.2.3 of pfSense.
I bought it and it will help me many basic things, too, whatever it is pfSense 1.2.3 or 2.0beta

                –--EDIT----

If I'm right, in the "package list" I could read, that lightsquid needs squid installed before. Im not sure, if I could install lightsquid without squid installed - nevertherless if this makes sense - but after updating the box to a new firmware, it first installs lightsquid and then squid.
If it works - and it does actually, it's not a problem for me but perhaps there is a reason I don't understand :)

pfSense-2.0-BETA4-20101215-1831.iso.gz AMD64 work well with squid3 enable in Transparent proxy.

but how to limit each local lan pc internet bandwidth with the Traffic Shaper?

like each pc will get fix 300kbps upload and 500kbps download.

The bug with Squid 2.7.9_4 (not 3.0) appears to have been squashed.

Running latest i386 Pfsense build December 21 no problems.  ;D
