Centeral Managment system for pfSense?
-
This seems like such an unbelievably useful feature. $4000 and still no one had a crack at it!ย :o How many out of work coders out there?! This would look good on your CV.ย ;D
Perhaps, as suggested in the bounty thread, the task of a complete CMI is just too large to be tackled in one go. Too much risk. Creating a basic but extensible application that can be completed over time might the way to go.

There is something in the works for after 2.0 ships, but it won't be Open Source.

Considering the extensive amount of work required to put out a decent product, even with just basic functionality, $4k doesn't begin to compensate a coder for the effort.

Really? Hmmm.
I think you guys are getting paid more than me!ย ::)
How many days coding does $4000 buy you? -
jimp, what will be the cost for this closed source function? also is there a place to find out more info?
-
Still too early to say anything for certain. Some code exists (Check sullrich's twitter feed from several months ago for screenshots) but it's pretty far away from a finished product. Not sure anything like cost has actually been decided yet.

At typical US salaries for the type of skillset needed, less than a month. Nowhere near the few thousand hours it'll take.

Sorry, so what exactly is happening at the $4000 point now? No one is willing to take it? I might have a coder who would be interested in this.
Isn't the M0n0wall CMI code GPL? Can't it be borrowed or is pfSense now branched out too much away from M0n0wall?
Thanks

The $4000 bounty was withdrawn due to non-interest.
-
No interest for anyone to take the project for $4000 or because people who committed were not willing to wait longer?
Thanks
-
when will pricing be decided (will it be tired IE # systems/home/biz user etc)?
-
Still too early to say for sure

thats what I thought but wasnt sure.

A little of column A and a little of column B.ย Doing this project even remotely correctly would involve several thousand hours worth of effort at least and I doubt many developers with the requisite skill set would want to go to all that effort and then try to chase down money from all those different people.ย Ultimately, the bounty was retired due to non interest as per the rules of the bounty forum.
