      I can not find anywhere the proper procedure to install pfSense 1.2.3 on a full hd connected to a 2d13 alix. I found this link http://nw-ds.com/ALIX_with_IDE_HDD but does not work :-(.
      I tried to install pfSense on hd but when I connect it always gives me the error all'alix Trying to mount root from pfSense.
      Does anyone know the link to be able to follow some guidelines?

        ok I unplugged the hard drive and I stuck on a laptop. I installed pfSense 1.2.3 live cd but when I plug in the Alix comes out this error:

          Faulty IDE cable? Faulty IDE controller?

          Does it boot cleanly on the laptop?

            On the laptop I did not try to start pfSense. Now I see that it works correctly on the laptop.

            PS: but at the end of installation what I set?
            monoprocessor
            multiprocessor
            or system embended

              I put the hard disk on the laptop but the system locks up
              F1 FREEBSD
              Boot: F1

              and then stops everything

                If you installed Embedded it didn't lock up, it's now expecting you to be using the serial console.

                I believe that ALIX requires the embedded kernel, since it doesn't have a VGA output.

                  I'm reinstalling pfSense and try to see if it hangs on the laptop. If it keeps crashing I switch a firewall system for alix.

                    I reinstalled pfSense on hard disk but I always get the same error.
                    PfSense starts, but then the system reports the error in the second post.

                      ok con la 2.0 embendedd non ho nessun problema e finalmente riesco ad installare anche i packages. :D
