Use randomly 3 WAN interfaces
-
Hi there,
Quick question about the configuration with multiple IP from the same provider (5 IP addresses for a 2MB line).
I have 6 computers in the LAN
I'm running a 1.2.3 embedded version with
1 x LAN
3 x WAN with 3 different IP
I configured the the LoadBalancing service in order to use randomly those 3 IP addresses when peoples are surfing on the webBut I think it's not the best configuration isn't it ?
Should I configure IP Aliases instead ?
In the end, I just need to use those 3 IP randomly, I don't need a real load balancing service
And since I configured this, my log is full of :
…
kernel: arp: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx is on re1 but got reply from 00:0a:f4:xx:xx:xx on re2
kernel: arp: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx is on re1 but got reply from 00:0a:f4:xx:xx:xx on re3
kernel: arp: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx is on re1 but got reply from 00:0a:f4:xx:xx:xx on re2
kernel: arp: 212.xxx.xxx.xxx is on re1 but got reply from 00:0a:f4:xx:xx:xx on re3
...Thanks !

There isn't a "good" way to that that one 1.2.3.
On 2.0 you can add them as CARP, IP Alias, or Proxy ARP VIPs. Then make an Alias of those IPs. Then make an outbound NAT rule that uses that alias as the "translation address".

ok so finally my setup is not so bad :D
but is there a way to ignore those warning messages and kick them out from the log ?

Yeah, System > Advanced, there is an option "This will suppress ARP messages when interfaces share the same physical network".
Check the box and the log messages should go away.
