[Solved] Lots of problems!
-
I dont know if anyone else is having as many problems as me with the 2.0 RC1, but I seem to be having non-stop problems :(
Current version: built on Tue Mar 15 13:14:13 EDT 2011
32 bit version1. NTPD does not start-
no logs at all in system logs
Services status shows it down
Fairly new issue2. Webpage crashes every now and then and wont start
wont even start working if I go to the ssh interface and use option 11 to restart webconfigurator
Usually happens when I am messing with OpenVPN
Page just sits there trying to load
Every time I click on Configuration Archive in Client Export for OpenVPN
Seen this issue for the last couple updates3. Open VPN never seems to work
I am using network manager on Ubuntu, which uses the openvpn client
have not been able to download the pkcs12 file to try out the openvpn config cause of my webpage issues
Always had this issueserver log:
Mar 15 22:46:22 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: Re-using SSL/TLS context
Mar 15 22:46:22 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: LZO compression initialized
Mar 15 22:46:22 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: TCP connection established with [AF_INET]x.x.x.x:54298
Mar 15 22:46:22 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: TCPv4_SERVER link local: [undef]
Mar 15 22:46:22 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: TCPv4_SERVER link remote: [AF_INET]x.x.x.x:54298
Mar 15 22:46:23 vorgusa openvpn[11743]: x.x.x.x:54298 Connection reset, restarting [-1]client messages:
vorgusa@Desktop:~$ nmcli con up id home
Active connection state: unknown
Active connection path: /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/6
state: VPN connecting (need authentication) (2)
state: VPN connecting (3)
state: VPN connecting (getting IP configuration) (4)
Error: Connection activation failed: the connection attempt timed out.I also see a good number of:
Mar 15 23:15:28 vorgusa apinger: Error while feeding rrdtool: Broken pipe
Mar 15 23:16:28 vorgusa apinger: /usr/local/bin/rrdtool respawning too fast, waiting 300s.in the system logs
Now I have been trying to change the settings in OpenVPN to see if I can get it to work, usually I keep going till the webpage crashes and then I have to reboot the router using ssh

2.0-RC1 (amd64)
built on Tue Mar 15 23:34:27 EDT 2011I just updated from ~March 6.
1. NTPD does not start-
Same problem here, although I was able to start it manually from the Status: Services page.
2. Webpage crashes every now and then and wont start
10 minutes uptime. So far so good.
3. Open VPN never seems to work
Also no problem here in 10 minutes (openvpn client).

Hey clarknova,
I am unsure if NTP shows in the service status page before you have enabled it, but if it does you may want to check services -> openntpd to see if you have enabled it. Also When I go to Status -> Services and click start it says It started but the status is still stopped -
for the NTP problem, I did notice:
2.0-RC1][root@vorgusa.local]/var/etc(22): ps -aux | grep ntpd
root 13210 0.0 0.1 3504 1396 ?? SN 11:33PM 0:00.19 ntpdate 0.pfsense.pool.ntp.org
root 28644 0.0 0.1 3656 1400 ?? IN 11:33PM 0:00.01 /bin/sh /usr/local/sbin/ntpdate_sync_once.shonce I killed those two processes I was able to bring ntpd up:
[2.0-RC1][root@vorgusa.local]/var/etc(35): /usr/local/sbin/ntpd -s -f ntpd.conf
[2.0-RC1][root@vorgusa.local]/var/etc(36):seems like it tried to update the time once and got stuck and since the NTP socket was in use it would not allow ntpd to start.

Good call, I didn't even have the ntp server enabled.
-
I also see a good number of:
Mar 15 23:15:28 vorgusa apinger: Error while feeding rrdtool: Broken pipe
Mar 15 23:16:28 vorgusa apinger: /usr/local/bin/rrdtool respawning too fast, waiting 300s.in the system logs
I have some of those entries in the first two minutes up after upgrading, but not after that, and my graphs appear normal.

I believe I found my problem. Bad Hardware acceleration card for encryption. Makes sense that the web interface may freak out since it uses SSL and OpenVPN would definitely cause problems. Not sure why the NTP was not working properly though.
