General Setup Help

Not sure where to put this, and can't find any topics specifically about the subject…

Dell Dimension 3100 (3GHz Pentium 4 HT, 512MB DDR2, 2xD-Link DFE-530TX)
-
pfSense 2.0-RC1 (amd64)
-
7Mbps/512kbps DSL
-
Anywhere from 50~125 simultaneous users at any given time
We've managed to take-down all kinds of off-the-shelf routers, so I played around with m0n0wall and now pfSense with varying degress of success. Things are better, but we still get spotty connectivity at times, can no longer log-in to pfSense remotely, and must reboot.
I'm no expert, so I went with the trafiic shaping wizard, but I'm not sure what to do next. Basically, all I want is to keep everyone's connection alive; speed is not a priority.
Suggestions?
Thanks.

pfsense 1.2.3 or m0n0wall 1.33 until 2.0 is stable.

Replaced the pfSense box above with a m0n0wall 1.33 box - Dell Dimension 2400; 2.8GHz Pentium 4, 512MB DDR, integrated Ethernet + an old Network Everywhere NIC.
Things worked for a little while, but then parts of the building would cut-out (while others remained unaffected); the Network Everywhere card was throwing a few TX underrun and watchdog timeout errors before changing to store and forward mode… Help?

I use only Intel NICs. You can find used Intel Pro 100 for ~ $10
if you still have problems after switching to an Intel NIC post on the m0n0wall forum or PM me and we can get together on Skype.

Solved it; strange IP conflict with a Cisco wireless access point elsewhere in the building.
