CountryBlock Questions For 2.0-RC1
-
I have a small web hosting company and own all of our own servers. Our network now sits behind pfSense 2.0-RC1 and it works great! We are getting hammered big time from China and a few other countries.
CountryBlock sounds great, but I'm hesitant installing it due to the pfSense 2.0 issues I've seen. I realize that since coding is changing daily on 2.0-RC1, and it's hard to keep up. I just don't want to run in to any problems when upgrading to a newer release. In reviewing a few comments posted earlier, I'm a little skittish.
Does anyone have any comments or experiences as of today, May 5th? I realize that things do change and there will be a point that I won't have to worry.
All comments are welcome.
Thanks!

Any update to this question, now that it's May? CountryBlock is something that we'd like to use as well.

I goofed! I meant May 5th, NOT April 5th.
Thanks Porter!

I switched to 2.0 a few weeks ago, and countryblock works great for us.

I'm glad to hear it's working great!
My concern is upgrading to a newer 2.0 RC1 release and having issues. Looking over past posts, there were a few issues when upgrading. I think they're working this and I do want to install CountryBlock. Our servers get hammered on SSH from China and Vietnam daily.

One of the coolest things that countryblock is that it's all written in php. There isn't any thing that changes from pfsense 1.2.3 to pfsense 2.0. Since php is php it will always work.
Feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions but I think I can put you worries to rest.
