Hmmm, maybe you could download again the pfsense.iso file and burn it low speed?
nuke the HD first before you install, it might be your download is a bit corrupt, just maybe…

Then it might be a issue with the hardware, i am sorry no other ideas how to test that, maybe with some benchmark software on the Hiren cd
Are you able to post screendumps of your bios settings?

I would try resetting your bios to defaults, low level format your harddrive and reinstall.
Those screen shots you have posted seem to indicate some low level problem like the disk is failing or the install didn't complete.

You can also try a custom install, and make a small / (perhaps 4GB) and then make the rest swap and /usr

Some BIOS implementations are picky about the root (/) slice being over certain sizes.

Hey guys, sorry i havent replied back here in a bit. was travelling a bit and then i got Dengue Fever.. awesome!!  better now.

SO i trashed this onld machine as it was doing me no good, got my hands on another one with an ASUS motherboard and i am able to install. The only problem being i need 3 NIC's and this M/B only has the 1 onboard and only 1 extra PCI slot.. Am i able to do this all ok with a vlan?  I have tried to do this but cant seem to work out how to setup the VLAN.. it asks if i want to and i say yes, i tell it which NIC to use, then it just seems to keep asking me the same over and over..

Yes it need to know which physical hardware it uses with vlans. you should answer like em0 or whatever your drivers/hardware is. after that you may add vlan number

Thanks, i just got myself a new box and 3 NIC's, and was able to install 2.0RC2 which is only seeing 2 of the 3 NIC's for now, its got 1 onboard and 2 PCI (identical) cards. They both work, in both slots on their own, but when both are plugged in, only 1 works.. this a problem with 2.0RC2?

Have you assigned the third interface to pfSense? (in web GUI: Interfaces -> (assign), click on the "+" button in the bottom right of the screen). If there are no interfaces to assign please post the output of the pfSense shell command # dmesg so we have a bit more information to work with.

Hey thanks for the reply. I couldnt figure it out, then 2 days ago a new version of software was available, so i updated automatically from the GUI, still version 2.0-RC2 but was 2 days newer than the one i had installed, after it installed and i rebooted, all my NIC's are showing up and working together!!  So problem solved here :) Thanks for all the help that everyone gave, its this support that kept me interested in using pfSense
