Implementing multi VLAN on pfsense
-
Not sure the best way to do this…
I have a pfsense superMicro box that is running pfSense. I also have several devices that I would like to divide up into different VLANs. For example:
VLAN1
-
xBox
-
appleTV
-
TV
VLAN2
- NAS
VLAN3
- Wireless AP
What is the best way to go about this? Multi-NIC card? small home router? etc?

when working with vlan's you'd only need 1 NIC for all vlan's …. but then you would need a layer2 switch behind the pfsense
on the pfsense you can create as many vlan interfaces as you need

Great, that is what I was hoping I could do. I planned on setting up about 5 VLANs on one NIC on the pfSense box and attaching a managed switch to handle the traffic.

Hi,
I'm trying to setting up pfsense vlans which steps I need to do?
Until now i create two vlans
Interface VLAN tag Description
rl1–----------2----------CASA
rl1------------3---------UFFICIOwhere rl1 in the lan interface (rl0 is wan interface)
which is the next step (i'm using static ip)?
Is the hp 1810-g suitable swich?
