HDD Install problem

Any help fom the community would be great.

Issue: HDD install does not complete, I think.

I have load the Live CD onto RAM and I am able to define my interfaces, create DHCP, and also remote login into pfSense from another computer. I hit optionn "99" and it goes through the installation and reboots, take the Live CD out. Machine boots and it goes to a option screen (8 options I think along with a timer), I have let the timer expire and also pick the first option to start/load pfSense but I get a "" prompt. I read in the instructions that I am supposed to get a "/" prompt and then I can access pfSense via remotely or through console port. In the state "" I can not access no can I ping the interface from a different PC.

Is pfSense actually loaded? My assumption is no its not.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this loaded on HDD?

AMD 2.4 single core
2gig RAM
Seagate 160 GB SATA

Mobo, processor, RAM, and mobo SATA port have been tested, its actually part of my production Windows Home Server. The HDD is also known working that came from another PC and I have "0"/blanked the drive with instructions from another thread off this site.

It's probably because you're using SATA. Make sure you are using the latest bios. Go through the bios and make sure that SATA is set to 'ide mode' or something similar.

Steve, many thanks.

I got it to work with disabling packet mode on bootblocks AND setting the (/) partion to 4GB and not * (the whole drive). I'm going to enable bootblocks and see what happens.

I kept on getting differents results with disabling bootblocks so I used it in conjuction with the other suggestions just like the troubleshooting steps said to do.

Enabled the bootblocks and all is still well, many thank.

On a side note, I have an extremely old PCI WAN card (10 years old) for a cable network and it doesn't come up as a interface. I have drivers for it but I do not know the location on where to put the driver. I will start another thread for this.
