Just fyi

After installing 2.0RC2 I started getting the error "local APIC error 0x2" on the console, this was not present in1.2.3
No other ill effects were observed.

Adding "hint.apic.0.disabled=1" to /boot/loader.conf seems to have resolvd the issue.

That would be specific to your hardware. Often a BIOS update or setting can also help with that kind of error.
