Hello Everyone Im curios if how many NIC's will be detected on pfsense? is this possible if i Have 6 NICS will that 6 be detected? or are there limitations? if there is a limitation then how much is the limit. Thanks.

Pretty much only limited by what you can physically fit.
I can't find his post now but Ermal recently talked about one having an install with over 2000 interfaces! Of course most of those were virtual using VLANs.Steve

What you mean by this Steve? I have 5 lancards on my mobo why is it limited, the lan cards displayed are rl0,vr0,vr1,vr2 only whats wrong with this steve?

I mean there is no software limitation on how many NICs you can have. Any limit you may experience is a hardware issue. I have 9 NICs in my box.
Are your NICs all supported by FreeBSD?
If you have NICs that aren't detected try disabling everything you don't need in the bios, this will free resources.
Try disabling ACPI.Steve

I have DLink lan cards 3 of them were detected the last one was not detected and oh there is an onboard lan card also being detected.

Ok.
Are they all the same NIC?
You will need to check that they are actually all identical as sometimes manufacturers will change the chip used and keep the same part number.Steve

If you have a specific NIC that isn't being detected, then it's either a hardware issue (the card itself, your motherboard's PCI <whatever>bus, etc), or a driver issue (less likely if they are identical).
There is no limit to the number of NICs pfSense will detect and use, only the limitation of your hardware. With VLANs and such you can get up into the hundreds or thousands of interfaces. The GUI doesn't look so pretty then in some areas, but it works.</whatever>
