      Hi all

I'm having a few problems with my multi-wan setup (2.0). Basically, one of the WAN gateways is being marked up and down more than a whore's drawers. It seems to toggle up/down status every 5mins or so.

I have to assume that my ISP's gateway doesn't like being pinged, so the gateway drops out. I have no issues with the interface itself, it works as expected all the time, it's just the gateway monitoring which seems to cock up.

It is a low latency, full-speed ADSL2+ connection (on the UK ISP Be).

I was looking at the advanced options for the gateway monitoring, wondering if tuning these values would help, but came unstuck because:
      a) I have no idea about the defaults, and
      b) There is no real info I can find about the "Down" setting.

      Can anyone help?

      Cheers
      Mouse

It depends on the reason the gateway was marked down. If it marked it down because of "loss" then perhaps your gateway did stop responding to pings, either because it drops out like you said, or because there is actual loss on the line.

If you watch the gateway status widget on the dashboard as it happens, you should see the loss or latency as it gets marked down. The quality RRD graph should also show you.

You could increase the thresholds for the WAN to be marked down on the gateway settings, and also change the monitor IP address to something besides your gateway (DNS server, google, etc).
