[help] realtek 8111e won't detect
-
i have a board with onboard realtek 8111e, it won't detect.
i've tried below with the current snapshot
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,32983.0.html
still doesn't detect.
will pfsense include this driver in their kernel, gigabyte boards are very common…
-
now i just found that dmesg | grep re0
shows
re0: <realtek 8111="" 8186="" b="" c="" etc…="" ...<br="">not sure if that helps...
kldstat shows if_re.ko is loaded
ifconfig | grep re doesn't show any re0 interface......im using gigabyte GA-880GMA-USB3 board with 2x intel gigabit nic which detect fine.
nothing in webgui -> interfaces -> assign
just em0 and em1 which are my intel nics.</realtek> -
Please post the complete output of # dmesg | grep re
The re driver probably had a complaint about the device it attempting to take control of. The rest of the output should give some clue about the complaint.

That is your problem: the re driver says it doesn't recognise the hardware revision in the chip and refuses to attach to the device, hence ifconfig won't report interface re0.

so what do i do? shrug
