I recently purchased a wireless module from a recommended PFsense hardware reseller. The problem I am experiencing is that I can't get the wireless module to work.

      PFsense version: 1.2.3-RELEASE
      Wireless Module: Wistron DNMA-92 Atherson 802.11 a/b/g/n

My PFsense powers and everthing else is working, it just doesn't recorgnise the minipci card.

      Any suggestions?

      Thank you in advance.

        @TeaBagger:

What specifically doesn't recognise the mini PCI card? It is not listed in the startup output? It doesn't appear in the interface list in the web GUI?

it doesn't appear in the gui nor in the console setup, I'm trying been trying to find more info on how to search for all interfaces via command but could find anything.

Use shell command # ifconfig -a to list all the interfaces currently recognised by the kernel.

New interfaces need to be added in the GUI: Interfaces -> (assign), then click on the "+" near the bottom right. If there is no "+" then there are no new interfaces to introduce to pfSense.

I tried that command earlier and only cant back with my ethernet ports, I then tried via the GUI and was able to assign but there was nothing new to assign.

The card uses the AR9220 chipset, which, according to CMB, doesn't work in FreeBSD 7.2 or 8.0.
                See:  http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=21635.0

You will probably want to look at other alternatives.

I hope thats not the case I just bought them off a recommended PFsense supplier website.

Looks like I wasted my money as this card won't work.

I've looked on the Freebsd site and tells me to use the ATH driver as it works with all Atheros except the AR5005VL chipset.

                      "HARDWARE
The ath driver supports all Atheros Cardbus and PCI cards, except those
that are based on the AR5005VL chipset.

A list of cards that are supported can be found at
                          http://customerproducts.atheros.com/customerproducts/default.asp."

                      http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=ath&sektion=4#end

Could some please tell me how to go about using the ATH driver instead of the required one for AR9220?

                      Thanks in advance
