          The standard books from Cisco Press were excellent and I used them to prepare for my CCNA.  Using GNS3 to set up simulated environments to practice the sims was also really helpful.  Buy the books, do the practice questions and take the practice tests from Boson (included with the books).  It wasn't that painful.

            Excellent. My CCNA was prob the toughest of all compared with the MCP's & CompTIA's I've got over the years. I found the official Cisco materials were excellent for understanding the kit and the protocols but not great for the actual exams. Hands on with the kit gives a lot more confidence but some of the simulators are excellent.
