I've been using a Cisco SLM2008 8-port Gigabit Smart Switch for a few months now. No complaints. It has a nice WebGUI, can be powered by PoE or AC adapter (included), and is non-HoL blocking. Supports Jumbo Frames (9k), QoS, up to 16 VLANs, Management ACL, Spanning Tree, IGMP snooping (for multicast streams)… It's pretty powerful for such a small little switch. It's fanless, so it does get a bit warm, however. As long as it's free-standing (or uncovered on most sides) it'll be fine.

I use the Netgear GS108Tv2 8-port smart switch. One of the best in 8 port range for under $100. Check out the 16 port switch which is identical to this except it has double the ports.

The GS108T is nice if you're looking for some entry-level web management, VLANs, etc. If you just want a dumb switch that works then look at the GS108.
Personally, I'm thinking about picking up the GS110TP. This didn't exist when I bought my last round of switches and Gig-E + PoE appeals to me. The two fiber ports are a nice bonus as well.

I have the same switch. It runs great, but does get HOT IMHO…

Every time I used a Netgear device in the past I ran into troubles (failing HW, feature not working right, fan blown, too hot, too loud, IIRC)
I use HPs 1710, 1810 or whatever they call them now or Cisco/Linksys for managed switches
and cheap TrendNet or TP-Link unmanaged switches.
No issues so far. (I even use a TrendNet Green GBit switch to connect my VM host machines to the disk array, but don't tell! 8) -

I've never used their rackmount units though, I stick to Dell (3xxxP and 62xx switches) in that area.
Actually, I take that back. i had one GS108T that rebooted every time you touched it. That turned out to be a defective AC adapter though. Once I replaced it the switch was fine.
