Riser card for supermicro board and chassis
-
Hope you guys can help me out with a hardware config question. Probably going to have to take someone familiar with the supermicro Atom boards and 1U chassis.
Got a superMicro X7SPA-HF mobo and 502L-200B 1U chassis. Mobo only has 2 Ethernet ports and I need VLANs so I researched and found a dual NIC card, EXPI9402PT. It uses the Intel 82571GB Gigabit Controller. I believe this will fit in my chassis - fingers crossed.
Trying to find a riser for my setup. Found two:

Although I haven't researched that combination, at least some PCIe 1.x era Intel NIC cards don't work in PCIe 2.x slots. See http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,39620.0.html. Please tell me if I'm wrong, because I'm looking for more low-price ports myself ;)

Both risers will work but you need to fold the cable nicely to tuck it away.
You can also consider getting a rigid riser instead. There are plenty on ebay such as:

Thanks dreamslacker. I checked out that link. I think the main problem in my setup is the X7SPA board is a mini-ITX and if you plugged the card into an angled riser the card wouldn't meet up with the bracket on the outside. That is why I think I need a flexible riser. That make sense?
Could be wrong though, thats why I posted my question here.

If you're looking at specifically that case (502L-200B), the bracket lines up with the first slot on any motherboard. Which means that it will work with the X7SPA using regular rigid risers.
