I have a choice of using a Atom D525 paired with an Intel PRO/1000 PT dual port server adapter, or a T9300 C2D mobile CPU from a laptop with a Jetway NF93-R-LF but with 2x Realtek RTL8111C. What I am wondering is would a better network card be the more worthy choice over a far faster CPU? Where would I get the best gain in performance?

Also, does anyone know of a decent mini-ITX case with one PCI slot that doesn't use a riser?

Unless you're actually trying to move more than a couple hundred Mbit/s, Realtek vs. Intel doesn't matter.

        I can break anything.

Go with the C2D. The Atom D525 is no where close to the C2D. Realtek is not that bad as it's hyped to be.
