FR for 2.x: batch installation of packages

Currently, packages have to be installed one-by-one, which can be quite tedious.
It would be great if in a future release, obviously not 2.0 at this point, things could work a bit like this:
A checkmark next to each listed package allows for selection of the package.
An "install selected packages" button then starts the download and installation process, installing all packages selected, collecting the diagnostics output in a log which is then available for download at the end, so one can easily verify everything went as expected…
