        pfSense is a firewall/router distribution.
how would you run it without a computer ?

did you mean a VM ?

if so, yes you can run it virtualized.

Not without a computer, but without other phisical router (ex: zyxel, linksys, dlink,etc.. aplliance) what doing the PPPoE autentication request by my ISP
I try to explain, this is my situation:

roof wimax antenna ---- linksys wrt54gl ethernet router ------ pfsense pc

this configuration works, wrt54gl doing the PPPoE autentication and pfsense WAN is set to 'static' with gateway on wrt54gl
But I want remove the linksys router and doing PPPoE autentication directly with pfsense

roof wimax antenna ----- pfsense pc

          It's possible ??

          thanks in advance
          best regards
