Lost my dhcp
-
Hello,
Whilst having a play with the settings on pfSense, I set a defined DNS address (that was wrong) and also entered a 'Domain Search List' entry.
From that point on, the computers attached to the pfSense machine wouldn't DHCP - I entered a static address and I could then get to the pfSense machine. I turned off what I'd changed, but it still won't DHCP.
I have rebooted the pfSense machine. -
This is getting weird.
I've just restored the pfSense back that I took before I started to play - it still won't DHCP.
I'm doing this with the PC connected directly to the pfSense box - no vLan switch in the way.

check status:services if dhcp is running
-
Thanks.
Will do - I've never turned it off, so it should still be running!
-
Metu - once again, you are showing yourself as a genius! Just been there and it says 'stopped'. I'll now investigate why it has stopped and I'll try and re-start it.
-
Umm - I've clicked the restart and it won't restart. I'll have a good search.
-
Well, I've fixed it.
I've been editing the config file to make it a lot quicker to do loads of entries (vLan situation) - I miss-typed something!
-
Once i shared your boat.. ::)
I did too much settings for dhcp -
GUIs are a 'nice' way of editing settings - but it's such a slow way, so I text edited the backup (1000 times faster), but I made a typo!

Odds are the search list isn't in the right format, there is a recent ticket for that. Clear out the search list and see if it works.
