      I have been advised to make sure that mac spoofing & arp poisoning are both turned off - where and how do I do that in pfSense 2?

        Advised where? pfSense won't be doing any MAC spoofing or ARP poisoning if you haven't configured it to do so.

          Advised by the isp.

          Situation is that on a direct connection, I get a receive speed of 20Mb - through pfSense I only get .2Mb.

            Then you don't have to worry (other than the fact that your ISP is handing out dubious advice).
