Network cable become unplug - pfSense
-
Hello everyone ….
I used pfSense as gateway and connected 18 clients over switch .... no package installed ... pfSense 2.0 (release) (i386) ... Unfortunately since start using of pfSense, the client computer's network become unplugged randomly .... I don't know why ... is that because of pfSense .. ? Is there any options to solve that ... ? When client became unplugged, it can't reconnect by unplug the cable and replug it .... It has to shutdown and also need to close UPS ... (no power to client computer) and then it back again .... I don't know how to solve and that's the main major problem for me ......P.S --- I already changed switch but it's still happen like that .......

Does this happen to every client, or just one? What operating systems?
If the computers are displaying a message about the network interface being unplugged then it can only be a fault with the switch, the network cable or the client. At no point could pfSense be responsible for that error message.

do you use ftp-cables? can you switch to utp?

I assume you meant STP (Shielded Twisted Pair)?

If the client needs to be completely powered off with standby power cut out, it's an issue with the client's NIC. Sometimes, this is caused by firmware issues but mostly, it's a hardware issue.
e.g. I have a few DP45SG motherboards. Upon BIOS upgrade, all the NICs will fail to receive data. Rebooting, reinstalling drivers and otherwise does not work. The only known fix is to actually completely power off the board (including standby power from the PSU) and power up again. On the Intel forums, this is actually a known issue and that is the only fix. Intel has never released a BIOS fix for the issue.

Yes …. I jux want to know the solution ... I really don't want to blame on pfSense .. I like pfSense .... Now, I'm trying to replace with the Network Card ... I also found out that not because of Operating System ...
Hard to solve .... >:( -

Yes, my computers are P5KPL-1600 (ASUS) … and only that model happened randomly ... The others not .. I'm now trying to replace with Other NICs instead of that On-board NICs ... I hope it's work or should I upgrade the Bios ... but it's too risky ... Thanks for your explain brother ... It's really bad when playing games .... Customers shouted out loud .... ???

If there is a BIOS update available, you might want to try that on 1 set to test. If you're using DDS or CCboot (iscsi cake), you should download a copy of the existing BIOS first in case the upgrade bricks the network iscsi boot.

I've got an answer and now everything working fine with pfSense except the pfSense pre-version (before released) was crashed once ...The problem for network cable unplugged was because of Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 11.0 .... I don't know the details but after reinstalling all computer with MS Essential and now everything fine ... but we found out the problem before that ....
Thanks for everyone who gave me the opinions .... I appreciate that ..... !!** ;)
