Trying to (unsuccessfully) change config file location

Hello. Where can I find the location of the config file (not the actual file but the path)? I think I may have changed the path by accident when I used option "98". I tried to find the path for the config file but I was unable to find it and now I'm coming here for help.
EDIT: also, when using option "98" to set the config path, I do not see any config files stored in the directory. Since I changed the path, I should be seeing the config but nothing is showing up. Ideas on what I am doing wrong?

On my system (full pfSense) config file is /conf/config.xml It might be different on nanbsd installs.
On the console menu on my system there is no option 98. Are you booting live CD?

Hello. I am running the latest release 2.0 installed to hard drive. You are correct, option 98 does not appear on the console menu, however, if you type 98 you can manually change the location of the config file. So, my question is why does the config.xml not appear in the new location.
I changed the path to /mnt after I mounted a usb flash drive. I do not see the .xml in the /mnt directory.

rebooted and tried again using the following commands:
usb flash was mounted using "mount_msdosfs /dev/da0s1 /mnt"
I ran "find / -name config.xml". The conf file shows up but its still under /cf/conf/config.xml. I tried to change location again using option 98 in console but config.xml still not showing up in /mnt.
Anyone know if the change config file location feature was deprecated in version 2.0? Or is there something I am missing here?

Why not backup the config file through the web GUI: Diagnostics -> Backup/Restore click on Backup/Restore tab
This uploads the config file to system running the browser: you can copy/save it to your preferred destination. -
