      Hi,

In the process of installing and evaluating pfsense onto a pc to checkout features, strengths and weaknesses etc, and I noticed the installation was communicating with this Romania ip address 85.121.152.2.

Does anyone know why this ip address should be communicating with pfsense during the installation process? I wouldnt have thought this should be happening hence the question?

      Thanks
      V

Has to be NTP, just goes to ntp.org's pool which may be any number of different servers.

Having just looked up 0.pfsense.pool.ntp.org - 4.pfsense.pool.ntp.org the IP Addresses listed by https://pfsense.mylocal.com/diag_dns.php dont return the Romanian IP address in any of its results, so looks its not a time server.

Maybe there is something else in the installation that talks to a Romanian server? If so any ideas?

Are you sure that the .ro ip wasn't attempting to connect to your ip?

Keep in mind that all the *.pool.ntp.org addresses change. Knowing what they are know doesn't tell you what they were a few minutes ago, let alone days ago.

Exactly, you'll get different responses every time.
