Site buggy?
-
Having problems on IE9 - things like cursor won't go back up above a certain line if I try to correct spelling or when mouse hovers over icons they black out and stay that way until refresh - this is over 3 computers including one clean install of W7x64 with IE8 + IE9 - there are no issues with viruses, etc. this is on the site's end.

Which site?
if you mean pfsense webui is buggy, answer is easy and answered multiple times. don't use IE with pfsense
-
I meant the forum site - not my personal pfSense web GUI.

I haven't seen any problems with IE7, IE8 & IE9. Usually i use FF but sometimes there is no possibility for that

IE works fine for pretty much everything (7 and newer at least, 6 is a complete wreck). The answer to that is actually IE is buggy. If it works in Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari and not IE, it's Microsoft's fault.
As for forum.pfsense.org itself, I haven't heard any reports of issues with IE, but I don't use it myself. SMF 1.1.x (the software that runs this forum) pre-dates IE 9 so it's possible there could be issues there, but ones that fall under the same as the above - IE is buggy. Seriously, use a diff browser. But our Google Analytics shows IE 9 is used on about 13,500 forum.pfsense.org visits per month (only 7% of total visits for this month, IE as a whole is only 15%), and I haven't heard of anyone else reporting issues, but they may just not mention it.

Its like if i'm typing a response (like this one) and I hit the enter key to go to a new line - sometimes it jumps down then back up again.
The only way I can get the cursor to go down a line or two is by typing on the same line, backing up a few spaces and then hitting enter bringing the new word/letter down with me.
Also, when I use back space or try to use the up arrows (to edit for example) it hangs at points and i need to use the mouse to place the cursor higher.
Could be IE9's fault… probably is.
EDIT: on that note - I wonder if some of my pfsense web GUI problems I'm experiencing are due to IE9 being buggy....???

Most likely yes

Funny if you think about it, the typical school of thought is to make sure you use IE for embedded webservers like those found on routers/pfsense lol. In particular, I don't believe any of the graphs work using IE without extensions. I use chrome and FF both seem to work well

i remember having that same problem of jumping cursor before with chrome but not with the pfsense forum, only to the webgui. but now i am back with ff. haven't use a chrome for a while.

The editor on this forum is a nearly 100 % Javascript concept.
Try:
Flush your browser's cache. And check it's empty.
If you have one: flush your proxy cache.
If you have one: flush the cache of your ISP (could be a difficulut task ;)).All this will force the reload of all related Javascript files.
Btw: posting this with IE8 (using the good old XP), and reviewed with a natif IE9 using W7.
No issues discovered.
Btw, I presume that more then 33% of all the visitors on this site that post messages use IEx … -
