      from webgui - changing MTU on a PPPoE connection / WAN, does not work.

      I set MTU = 1000 under "interfaces" -> "WAN" (pppoe) and reboot.

      after reboot, pppoe get established - but launching ifconfig, returns:

      ng0: flags=88d1 <up,pointopoint,running,noarp,simplex,multicast>mtu 1492
              inet 87.15.65.174 –> 217.141.109.24 netmask 0xffffffff
              inet6 fe80::240:f4ff:fe8a:485f%ng0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x7

      Looking into /var/etc/mpd.conf:

      ...
      set link mtu 1492
      ...

      /gbosco</up,pointopoint,running,noarp,simplex,multicast>

            I don't use PPPoE.  Regadless, no code has been changed in RELENG_1 that has anything to do with MSS/MTU, etc.

              mpd has three mtu change points
              link_Mtu
              link_mru
              iface_mtu

              all can be found in /etc/inc/vpn.inc under the pppoe function.

              test first with ping to see where this needs to be before you start to set it
