I'm thinking of upgrading from 1.2.3 to 2.0 but it is really dependent on what packages and features. I'm looking for a package that works for one of the bandwidth monitoring tools such as ntop, bandwidthd or darkstat - none of which I can find for version 1.2.3. Of course I also use Snort but I'm sure that is available for 2.0. I've been looking for somebody that has a list of all packages for 2.0 in the repository but can't find anything. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

All of those are in 2.0. Course ntop is on both version, but is part of the base and not an addon package. There is also iperf for bandwidth testing.

ntop is part of the base? I don't think I have ntop on my v.1.2.3 box. When I look it up in the packages it says "check forum". The same thing goes for bandwidthd and darkstat. They all say they were built for pfsense 1.2.1.

Currently the only tool I can use to kind of get a snapshot of bandwidth usage is the RRD graphs (which are not that great) and pftop to view the state table which is ok but I would like a tool with a web front end.

Just because it says 1.2.1 doesn't mean it doesn't work on 1.2.3.

            I can break anything.

sorry I was thinking pftop … not ntop ... ntop is an available package in 2.0.
