Imspector
-
Anyone able to tell me if there is another package that does this? It seems imspector is quite ….broken.... even the IRC only monitors incoming text, not outgoing. Facebook does nothing. I have yet to test aim because, really, who uses aim anymore? haha....yim is broken too :\
-
The problem is that the last imspector version was released two years ago(2009-07-20 imspector-0.9.tar.gz).
After that, many IM systems changed the way protocol talks.
I have no idea of other free software like imspector.
EDIT
http://www.imspector.org/wordpress/?m=201010
There is a csv version that includes support for MSN2011, i"ll take a look.

Thanks marcelloc!

Yea I figured all that had changed. Thanks for looking into it! I wish I was more of a programmer like I use to be. Now I would probably just fail miserably if I tried.

GREAT NEWS!!!
After sending an email to Mikhail Tsatsenko, he just created imspector-dev ports tree with latest snapshot.
I've sent this new fresh port to core team, so we can test this new version very soon. Many thanks to Ermal and Mikhail Tsatsenko.
-
I've tested the compiled snapshot version on my pfsense box and it's loggin 2011 with no problem ;D
If somebody wants to test this compilation, try this:
Link to .tar.gz 64BITS snapshot compiled port
Link to .tar.gz 32BITS snapshot compiled port
link to impspector-devel ports tree
try this only if you know how to handle with tar.gz files.
-
disable imspector
-
replace imspector files in /usr/local/sbin, /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/lib/imspector
-
enable imspector

Thanks for your work on this, very interested in this project.
I believe the IRC logging might be useful not only for obvious reasons, but might help track down any PC's on your network infected with bots. Any idea if IRC logging is working?

If you can help me better understand how to upload these extracted .gz files to that directory you mention, I will test them :)

Do it very carefully on pfsense 2.0 i386
Disable imspector
Go to pfsense console
cd /root
fetch https://github.com/downloads/marcelloc/pfsense-packages/imspector-devel.i386.tar.gz
cd /
tar -xvzf /root/imspector-devel.i386.tar.gz
enable imspector. -

Unfortunately, IMSpector doesn't appear to be working right now for me. I'm sure this is because I don't have the guts to try your version yet lol :(
