Jetway NF99FL-525 and 120/10 + 20/1

I'm currently running a pfsense setup on a Jetway NC99FL-525 with an intel daughterboard, for a total of 5 interfaces. I have two wan links, one Ziggo (cable) 120/10 and one 20/1 (adsl). I have yet to see the cable connection go anywhere near it's max, the best I have done is 50 down but I get 9 up continiously.
When testing with a laptop connected directly to the cable modem I have seen speeds in excess of 100mbps so I don't think it's the cable modem.Somehow I don't think it's the cpu either (atom 525, 1.88ghz) and the system has 4GB ram and isn't running any other apps at the moment. I know there are some issues with the em driver in pfsense but could this be one of them? If so, does anybody have an idea what to change in the config?
I know have an identical machine which I will hook up to the local gigabit lan and see how that performs when connecting a laptop behind it.
pfSense is 2.0 stable.

Also, what are the interfaces you have? <- There are 2 82574L onboard but what's on the daughterboard?If you're connecting the 82574 to the cable modem, check that the link is up at Gigabit Full-duplex. If it is stuck at 100BaseTX half-duplex (happens with some modems/ ONTs), then that explains the speed you're getting.

The interfaces are connected directly to the modems and to a gigabit switch on the lan side.
lan is on port 1 on the motherboard (em0), cable is on port 2 on the motherboard (em1), the adsl connection is on port 1 on the daughterboard (em2).
The daughterboard is the intel version as well.There are nog shaper rules by the way.
Link to the cable modem shows up in the interface as being up at 1000baseT <full-duplex>, I have already switched cables between the modem and the firewall.</full-duplex>

Are you running the two connections load balanced?
Try running 'top' at console on your box and then pulling as much data through it as you can. What does top show your cpu doing?
Although you have a dual core CPU you will probably find one core is maxed out before the other, if that's the problem.Steve

Well … don't I feel stupid ...
Seems that one the two switches inbetween was the problempart. That'll teach me not to start from the beginning and trust on network drawings.Even though, for those contemplating buying a Jetway with intel controllers and getting scared of all the talk. It's working great here, just remeber to check your switches when you are having problems.

Easy to overlook something like that. :)
We probably get a question on here at least once a week something like, 'I've got a new super fast connection, X Mbps, will my Atom based box be fast enough?'.
It would be great if you could post some figures for CPU usage vs throughput even if just a rough idea.
Even better if you're running your two connections load balanced.Steve

Good idea Stephen.
While doing 110mbits down on the cable link the system is 80% idle.
While doing 110mbits down on cable and simultaneously syncing from one of the co-locations with 18mbit down the system is 77% idle.It seems I can max out the connections without any trouble on this box (Jetway NF99FL-525, 4GB, 320GB WD black, 3 intel interfaces on dauhterboard).

Happens to everyone. I had a switch that refused to work with class 'A' IP range of addresses. It took quite a while before I could convince the company to either buy a new managed switch or change to class 'C' IP range. As is typical of most accountant types, the owner went for changing IP range instead. lol..
Your Jetway belongs to the Industrial line though, I'm not too confident that it is a reflection of their regular line which uses Realtek NICs. Even my Intel D945GCLF2 had it's realtek NIC semi-die (flapping connection) on me in a year.
