PFsense on a Standard BSD install
-
Alright, maybe this is out of scope for the PFSense project, but I'm wondering if you can essentially do an install on top of a standard BSD install. I was considering rolling my own router/webhost/fileserver and while I could be assed to do it manually with pf/iptables, I would love to have the PFSense interface slapped on there. At the same time, I don't want to adopt the limitations of the pfsense official installs but rather want to have the freedom to muck about in the BSD core on a standard installation of FreeBSD (8.1 is fine, I don't need 8.2).
Is this possible? The PFsense interface is amazing and I'm already familiar with it :-)

You can install ezjail package and create a jail with 8.1 release and install ports for example.
Nat + firewall rules remains on pfsense.
