Bullet wireless connected with pfsense
-
I have one WAN and one LAN on pf-sense box. Internet is coming from WAN on pfsense. The lan of pfsense box is connected with bullet access point through Wire cat6. Users(clients) are using wireless INTERNET through Bullet access point(which is connected with pfsense box).I monitor, control etc my users through pfsense box.
The problem is that the INTERNET of users are v slow even youtube of 5 min will take 30 min to full load. when i remove pfsense box from my setup and give direct INTERNET from ISP to bullet AP then INTERNET of users become v fast.
It is noted that I have not set any traffic shaper on pfsense.
Please solve my problem.I am new on pfsense.
It is also noted that i have never set any special wireless configuration on pfsense because i dont know how to set it.
Please help me -
First thing I would look at would be the link between the AP and pfSense. You might be getting a lot of errors there. On pfSense GUI look at the In/Out errors fields for each interface on the Status -> Interfaces page. The In/Out errors counts should be small numbers. Record the numbers, do a reasonable download (say at least 1MB, remember the size of the download) and look at the counters again. If they substantially increased then its possibly because you have an interface mismatch on the corresponding interface(s), for example one end of the link is operating in half duplex and the other end is in full duplex. Reports the before and after values of the error counters and the download size here if you want help interpreting them.

i download file , which size is 10MB.
before downloading error count 0/0
after downloading error count is also 0/0sir, problem is If i direct plug the wire provided by My ISP to my PC then my downloading speed is nearly 400MB/s.
If i connect pfsense and bullet. Then the same file download at 200-300MB/s. -
sir, problem is If i direct plug the wire provided by My ISP to my PC then my downloading speed is nearly 400MB/s.
If i connect pfsense and bullet. Then the same file download at 200-300MB/s.You have some PC (and internet connection) if you can download a file and write it to disk at 200MB/s! Maybe you mistyped the units.
The variation doesn't seem to match up with:
@crazyzoar:The problem is that the INTERNET of users are v slow even youtube of 5 min will take 30 min to full load. when i remove pfsense box from my setup and give direct INTERNET from ISP to bullet AP then INTERNET of users become v fast.
I routinely download podcasts of between 10MB and 40MB. In a single download Mozilla might consistently report a download speed of around 300kBps with little variation or it might vary between 40kBps and 150kBps over the download. It is difficult to know how much download speeds are impacted by internet load and server load.
I see a number of reports in the forum of single download speeds through pfSense being lower than "direct" download speeds and wonder if that is really a useful performance metric in that I suspect pfSense is much more commonly used in environments where a number of users are concurrently sharing an internet connection.
What is your internet connection speed? What configuration was reporting download speeds of 400MB/s? (e.g. FTP on a Windows XP system writing to a memory disk.)
When "internet of users is v slow" - how many active users? are they all reporting it slow? what are they all doing?

Have you tested direct to the internet through on of the Bullet devices? Your posts contradict each other… Which Bullet AP are you using?

Same problem with me >:( pfsense is working best when i connect the client pc thourgh LAN cable cat 6 with pfsense router . But when i connect the client through Bullet M2 (which is connected through cable cat 6 with pfsense) the client get very slow speed. And also we cant say that there is configuration mistake in Bullet M2 coz when i connect bullet directly with ISP modem. it works perfect … Please reply if some one can help me >:( >:(

when i connect the client through Bullet M2 (which is connected through cable cat 6 with pfsense) the client get very slow speed.
I can't help you if that is all the information I have to work with.
What is the client doing?
What sort of speed is the "very slow" mentioned? 100B/s? 1kB/s?
The client has a wireless link to the bullet M2?And also we cant say that there is configuration mistake in Bullet M2 coz when i connect bullet directly with ISP modem. it works perfect …
This configuration is EXACTLY the same as the "very slow" configuration EXCEPT the bullet is directly connected to the ISP modem? The client location and the bullet location hasn't changed? The client is doing exactly the same thing?
Without knowing the cause I think it is a bit premature to rule out a configuration mistake.

Neither Bullet nor client location has changed. both are at same places. clients do simple browsing and downloading. i have 2 wan's of 4, 4 mb coming into pfsense as a input. and pfsense makes it 8mb at output. bullet is attached at output of pfsense and working as a bridge. clients are connected to bullet through wireless. client got just 12 kbps or max 20 kbps at 1 mbps profile. and same if i make 8mb profile. And my own computer is connect to pfsense through wire. and i got full speed like 800 to 900 plus kbps. when i remove bullet from pfsense and connect the bullet directly into one of my ADSL. It works perfect. means each ADSL has 4mb connection. and when clients download something they got 400 to 450 or 500 kbps transfer rate… This is the situation.

Have you set up the Bullet as an AP-only when you connect through your PfSense box or leaving it in router configuration? If you are double routing you may be slowing things down.
-
Impossible to say from that. Get a packet capture from the LAN interface (or whichever interface faces the bullet) filtering on one of the clients behind it by IP and analyze it. Or if you can upload it somewhere, post a link here. If there's potentially sensitive content in it, you can email me (cmb at pfsense dot org) a link to download it with a link to this thread.

client got just 12 kbps or max 20 kbps
Not sure if you mean bits or bytes here since you also said:
@shafqat1991:and i got full speed like 800 to 900 plus kbps.
900kBps (kilo Bytes per second) would be approximately 8Mbps (mega bits per second).
Anyway with that sort of difference the first thing I would look for is a duplex mismatch or cabling problem. If you have the Bullet connected directly to pfSense this could easily happen and 12kBps is exactly the sort of speed I would expect to see.Steve
Edit: Reading this it appears as though autonegotiation of line speed and dulplex is not the default setting.
