kernel: pid 62421 (php), uid 0, was killed: out of swap space

killall php helps, but WFT (never had those problems before) ?

Pfsense 2.x on Alix 2d13 (dual wan with failover).

Are you getting out of RAM? Can you monitor it while installing a package.

indeed, but why (I didn't have anything special nor a package installed!)? killall php sometimes works (progress in installation apps).

Did you tried something like increase firewall maximum states?

                No, all standard.

Could I enable swap on my embedded installation?

Swap on Cf cards will slow down your system.

Increase Max firewall states and see what happens if you detect on Dashboard that current state table is getting full.

                    It's not getting full:
                    State table size
                    Show states
                    347/23000

But I get a lot of those errors: all from php!

Whatever you installed is trying to use more RAM than you have. Since you don't have swap (and you shouldn't have swap on CF… it would kill the CF) it has to kill the process.

How much RAM do you have on that ALIX? 256MB? That's what mine has and it's running 2.0.1 fine and I haven't hit an error like that.

If you list what packages you have, perhaps more guidance can be given.

                      Also the full output of:

                      ps uxawww

And let this run for a few minutes in a shell then quit and capture the full screen of output:

                      top -SH

256MB is guess (isn't that old, maybe 2y).The Problem occured before installing any packages btw.
Internet also fails (on LAN) after a while (while being up).
