File sharing on OS X failing to cross the bridge on bridged LAN interface

I have two Macs running OSX 10.6.5.

I have ath0 bridged with vr0 and bridge0 is assigned as the LAN interface in pfSense.

When I have one Mac connected to vr0 and one connected to to the wireless AP, I can see the file sharing service (and other mdns service advertisements) on one host from the other, but I cannot connect and browse the files (in Finder, or iTunes).

However, when both hosts are connected to vr0 via a switch, then I can see the file sharing service and browse files from either host to the other.

Also, when both hosts are connected to the ath0 AP then everything works properly and I can browse shared files and shared media in iTunes from one host to the other.

This setup worked previously with the earlier 2.0 BETAX snapshots (fall of 2010), so there is a regression somewhere.

Just install the Avahi package. That lets you route Apple Bonjour through different subnets…
